FHWA continues to advance research on connected and automated vehicles. With the passage of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, FHWA will be establishing a new Center of Excellence in New Mobility and Automated Vehicles related to urban design. FHWA will also be creating a vulnerable road user research plan. The presentation will discuss these new requirements and provide an update on cooperative driving automation. CDA continues to advance utilized connected vehicle standards and automation standards. The exchange of messages between infrastructure owner operators and vehicle manufacturers will be critical. The VOICES system will provide a new tool for researchers and innovators to collaborate on the development of systems of systems for the future.
