The paper is devoted to the development of an phased array feed for a parabolic reflector antenna. The aim of the work is to choose array element, and to develop an effective design of the phased-array feed for communication dish. The wavefront recovery method was used as a tool for antenna design. The idea of the method is to reproduce defocused image of plane wave incident on parabolic reflector at the plane of first dark Poisson diffraction spot next to the dish surface. Electromagnetic field must be reconstructed with feed system made of spatially distributed array elements. According to simulation results the phased-array feed antenna is more effective than traditional prime focus dish of the same size.
