This paper presents the results of an activity led by TELETEL in the area of onboard data networks aiming at defining a deterministic protocol layer for SpaceWire and SpaceFibre networks. The main objective of the activity is the development of a novel deterministic protocol layer for SpaceWire and SpaceFibre that works primarily at network level (i.e. within routing switch devices), allowing therefore to build fully deterministic networks with both protocol-aware and legacy SpaceWire/SpaceFibre nodes. The work is performed under the ESA study entitled “SpaceWire Network Management Service Suite definition and validation”.
