The article discusses the power supply system of a railway automation and telemechanics device, namely a railway traffic light (hereinafter referred to as a traffic light), using solar energy as an alternative power source. An analysis of the characteristics of various rechargeable batteries showed the advantages and disadvantages of each type of rechargeable battery. Rechargeable batteries are used as backup power sources and must be kept in good condition at all times. The operating principle of gel and lead-acid batteries used in railway transport is the same, however, due to the gel electrolyte, gel batteries have a number of advantages. The transition to gel batteries will increase the reliability and quality of the power supply system for automation and remote control equipment. The productivity of a photovoltaic installation was calculated for two regions of the Republic of Uzbekistan. An analysis was made of the use of solar energy, and the advantages of autonomous power plants were described. The use of small solar photovoltaic installations operating in parallel with the network will improve the reliability of railway automation and telemechanics devices.
