A 1 MW, 13kW/kg, slotless permanent magnet synchronous motor with a 97% efficiency has been designed to be integrated within jet engines at 15000 rpm. To investigate the effect of manufacturing tolerances on the performance of the motor, a low-field rotor is constructed. Analytical model to investigate the effect of rotor eccentricity on motor performance has been developed and verified via non-linear finite element analysis. The analytical model with experimental data. The results show accurate results when compared to finite element method and experimental results.
