It is not uncommon for turbulences to cause injuries to civil aviation passengers. The turbulence index cannot reflect the actual situation of the whole country currently. Based on the annual flight data of China civil aviation, this paper develops a data analysis platform that can perform complex calculations. On this data analysis platform, an eddy dissipation rate calculation program is developed. A host of flight data stored in the quick access recorders were inputted into the calculation program at the aim of verification and correction. As the output, a host of reliable data of eddy dissipation rate are obtained. Based on these data, the distribution and frequency of turbulence in China are preliminarily concluded.
