Methods for taking into account the urban road network characteristics influencing air pollution emission levels are studied. Existing road classification approaches are considered, significant characteristics affecting pollutant emissions are identified, including the roads design features, traffic characteristics and features of the urban environment. An algorithm and a software module for calculating pollutant mass emissions produced by traffic flows have been developed.
