The city of Yonezawa has installed an automatic route induction coordinate signal control system that controls traffic signals for each route unit since 1974. However, the growing traffic volume in the city has reached the limits of capacity. Therefore, the prefecture established the Yonezawa traffic control sub-center in 1998 and installed an area-wide signal control system. In order to confirm the effect, the travel time, stopping time, and number of stops were surveyed. As the result, it was found that each item has been improved and the system is effective.
