Modeling and numerical simulation have become essential tools in the industry, particularly in the railway industry. The objective of this work is to develop a finite element model reproducing the mechanical behavior of a broken wheelset in Canadian railways. This modeling is based on the parts technical characteristics of this railway wheelset and the traffic conditions. The results of the numerical simulation are compared to the investigation report of the accident. These results confirmed the validity of the finite element model developed for this type of wheelset.
