Risks while driving can be significantly reduced when drivers pay careful attention to driving safety. However, not all drivers, novice or experienced, are able to estimate the distance between their vehicle and other vehicles while driving. Furthermore, not all vehicles have a sophisticated distance detection system that can assist drivers. While car ownership is on the rise nowadays, the risks from the slightest driving negligence, such as an accidental bump between vehicles, occur more frequently. This situation calls for a distance control system. The purpose is to develop a simple and inexpensive safety distance detection system that can measure the safety distance at three points in front of the vehicle, left and right, using the ultrasonic sensor HC-SR04. The tool is controlled by a microcontroller called Arduino UNO and its output can be displayed directly on the LCD using the nRF24101 transceiver as the wireless communication medium. The research was conducted at three-speed levels (20km/h, 40km/h, and 60km/h). The measurement results show that the tool can detect distances up to a 300 cm radius while driving, but the gap in the detection results in all speed levels is not significantly higher. However, the study also found that the magnitude of the distance measured by the tool is still less precise due to a tool deviation.
