Laser resonators with a phase conjugating mirror replacing the 100% reflector of the cavity, can show new mode patterns commonly not observable in this form with conventional resonators. Thus, flowerlike modes were observed by Damzen. Using phase conjugating mirrors based on stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) we observed filament structures in a Nd:YAG laser with a SBS-mirror.
