Drivers failing to take effective deceleration measures when driving to the sections before tunnel entrances in freeway is an important cause of freeway accident. Scientific and reasonable designing of deceleration markings (DM) can effectively force drivers to slow down smoothly. In this paper, traffic simulation software UC-win/Road is used to build a mountain freeway scenario and 13 tunnels with different distances were set up in the scenario. On the sections before each tunnel entrance, 12 kinds of DM with different colors, shapes and parameters were set, as well as the section before first tunnel entrance without DM. The section without deceleration markings and a section of simulated interval speed measurement (SISM) were used as the control group, and then the experiments were carried out based on a driving simulator. Through the analysis of the speed differences of the participators in the deceleration markings sections, the effect of different deceleration markings on the drivers' deceleration behavior was obtained. The results provide a reference for the scientific setting of the deceleration markings before the tunnel entrances, which can effectively reduce the occurrence of speeding traffic accidents in freeway.
