Cognitive capability is one of the most important personal characteristics of air traffic controllers and is also a signature component of their training. This quantitative research aims to explore whether video game training has a considerable effect on improving the cognitive capability of air traffic controllers. A sample of 30 students learning at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, who were randomly assigned to the video game training group or conventional case training group. At the end of the experiment, participants completed five cognitive tests which are part of the Air Traffic Selection and Training. This study indicates that video game training has a more efficient and significant role in improving part of cognitive abilities of air traffic controllers.
