A photonic bandgap resonator in coplanar waveguide technology is proposed. It is based on the introduction of a defect in the middle of two photonic bandgap reflectors which acts as a resonant cavity. Simulation and measurements are shown, with reasonable agreement. Application in other devices, such as bandpass filters are presented.
