The principal contribution of this paper is the use of the saddlepoint method to evaluate the performance directly from the characteristic functions of the distributions. It is shown that when the interchannel interference is significant that the results are much closer to that calculated using the Gaussian approximation than that using the chi-square approximation. Furthermore, it is shown that when sharp filters are used performance degrades rapidly when the filter overlap exceeds about 10%.
