A description of the upgrade potential of Siemens' EURO-SCOUT, initially conceived as a dynamic route guidance system for road users only, is given. Specific topics include improvement of modal split, transit information system, transit guidance system and pedestrian guidance system. It is shown that the EURO-SCOUT concept is fully adapted to sustain paradigm shift in transportation policies. It includes sufficient up-grading potential for maintaining its high level of performance independently of the following modes of travel: by car; by public transportation; and even as a pedestrian.
