Second-harmonic generation induced by optical poling has been observed in 15Nb/sub 2/O/sub 5//spl middot/85TcO/sub 2/ bulk glass, although the decay of second-harmonic nonlinearity is rapid compared with the case of thermal/electrical poling. The magnitude of second order nonlinearity is saturated after optical poling for about 400 s.
