A digital filter structure and processing scheme is being presented, featuring a minimum hardware effort and efficient means of computing rotation rates in fiber-optic gyroscopes. Its advantages over current analog and digital detection methods are pointed out. The problem of aliasing and quantization in digital filters limiting system performance is addressed. Test results document successful implementation of algorithms introduced.<>
