The objective of this project is to design a cost-effective device to enable vehicle actuation and ATCS compatibility in traditional fixed time controller. This Device upgrades the existing pre-timed Road traffic signal controller to traffic responsive ATCS compatible vehicle actuated controller by interfacing a vehicle actuation Enabler module (IoATC) without replacing existing controller and cabling, so that the pre-timed traffic signal will operate in a fully vehicle actuated mode by generating optimum cycle time based on the real time demand using vehicle detector. Inputs required for the Enabler module is connection from one green lamps corresponding to stages, Auto manual switch, Pushbutton for manual stage advance, from the existing Pre timed controller and isolated vehicle detector output from vehicle detector (high / low) through dry contact. Also it communicates with dashboard where real time status monitored and controlled from control room.
