This paper presents a new control scheme for open-loop adaptive optics. The considered deformable mirror is a MEMS (Micro-electronic-mechanical Systems) device with continuous face-sheet. In order to improve system performance, we introduce a scheme based on closed-loop control of deformable mirror, which racks the reference signal provided by optical loop. The dynamics of the deformable mirror are modeled as a time-dependent partial differential equation (PDE). To carry out control design, we discretize his PDE model on space and apply the technique of linear quadratic regulator of his discretized model. In addition of the advantages offered by closed-loop control, the proposed scheme works in a dynamic fashion, which is more computationally efficient compared to static inversion of desired mirror shape. The simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed method.
