In recent years, research on cooperative automated driving has progressed, and cooperative driving is used by sharing information with other vehicles using communications. In this study, we analyzed the effect of communication delay time on safety when V2V communication is used, assuming that a connected car stops or changes lanes while traveling on a highway. The results showed that sudden deceleration occurred as the communication delay time increased and the safety criterion was not met. However, sudden decelerations decreased when the communication distance was extended.
