With the development of the avionics system, integrated avionics architecture is desirable for the next generation of high performance aircraft. Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA) architecture with integration and modularity is proposed to satisfy the development demands of avionics system. Passive optical network (PON) is very attractive due to its maturity of the technology and superiority of the performance. So this paper proposes the avionics PON as the IMA architecture in order to utilize the advantages of optical network to meet the more requirements of avionics system. The paper presents the architecture of avionics PON, and in order to satisfy the data transmission among all various functional partitions in aircraft system, the dynamic bandwidth allocation (DBA) scheme is needed to guarantee the demands of avionics real-time performance. In this paper, we adopt the Interleaved Polling with Adaptive Cyclic Time (IPACT) with priority approach to solve the bandwidth allocation problem, and by analyzing the simulation results, this approach can fully utilize the bandwidth resource and ensure the real-time transmission of the avionics data packets. It is practical for employing the PON as the IMA architecture.
