Highly stable, higher-order optical pulses are generated in an AM mode-locked fibre ring laser via intra-cavity optical filtering. We show that a modulation signal which is a sub-harmonic multiple of the 3.48 GHz free spectral range of Fabry-Perot etalon can be used to generate optical pulses at a repetition frequency of 3.477 GHz with amplitude noise of 0.93% and a timing jitter of 1.2 ps. The laser is tunable over a wavelength range of 1535-1560 nm.
