This paper presents a decentralized algorithm for the coordination of charging stations (CSs) with parked electric vehicles (EVs) to provide ancillary services for active power compensation in a distribution system. Firstly, we derive the operating costs of single EV parked at a CS. Then, the realtime compensation costs of single EV and CS by providing active power are developed, which are further used in a decentralized coordination algorithm by leveraging a task-swap mechanism. The performance of the proposed algorithm is evaluated based on the standard IEEE 33 bus test distribution system. The results indicate that the proposed algorithm can have comparable solution quality compared to the centralized algorithm, while simplifying the communication system and reducing the computational complexity significantly.
