Stokes shift Spectroscopy (Sss) is a technique that combines excitation and emission spectroscopy to enhance the ability to identify fluorescence signatures when several biomolecules with overlapping spectra are present. Sss provides an improved method to measure the spectral fingerprints of fluorophores with broad emission bands in situations with large noise levels. In this work, the Sss technique was used in two different applications the detection of malignancy in tissues, and in situ sensing and monitoring of bio-agents (bacteria and viruses).
