In this paper, we report the wavefront modification of a coupling field due to its non-uniform intensity distribution in electromagnetically induced transparency. Furthermore, it is shown that this can lead to the dispersion-like spectrum for the coupling field transmission. The observed electromagnetically induced focusing of a coupling field by using phase sensitive detection could be theoretically analyzed by solving the density matrix equations for a three level system having Doppler broadening.
