This work attempts to minimize power consumption for analog beamforming with non-ideal power amplifier (PA) models under the constraints of a per-PA maximum power and a user target rate in low earth orbit (LEO) satellite communications. We propose a majorization-minimization (MM) scheme, utilize a surrogate function to transform the problem into a second-order cone programming (SOCP) one, and derive an interference-free analog precoder. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme converges rapidly and tends to either pull the PAs on the antenna array to the maximum power level or directly turn off the PAs instead of staying in the middle power levels. This observation together with the proposed scheme may be used to simplify the PA design in practice, since the middle power levels are seldom visited and there is no necessity to design a great number of middle power stages.
