In this work, the dynamics responses of satellite antenna system considering joint clearances and flexible reflection are investigated using a computational method. Clearances are always existence in joints of the driving and positioning mechanism of the satellite antenna system. Considering clearance in joint, the contact force model of clearance joint is established using a nonlinear continuous contact force model and the friction effect is considered by a modified Coulomb friction model. The antenna reflection is considered as flexible body and it is modelled by modal expansion method. Then, a satellite antenna driven by dual-axis driving and positioning mechanism is used as the application example. The numerical simulation of satellite antenna system with clearance joints and flexible reflection is presented. Finally, the coupling dynamic characteristics of satellite antenna considering clearances and flexible reflection are discussed and analyzed.
