A compact, polarization insensitive, modelocked fiber laser using a GaInAs-AlInAs MQW as the saturable absorber mirror element was recently reported. Our erbium-doped fiber laser cavity consists of 2.5 m of heavily doped erbium fiber and is pumped at 990 nm with a MOPA laser diode.
