We report considerable improvements in the beam quality of an unstable-resonator laser integrated with two different outcouplers designed using this new principle. In the first example, the coupler is designed for harmless feedback characteristics while producing four focused spots in free space, and in the second example, the coupler provides the feedback needed for the desired mode of operation of the laser (eliminating one of the feedback gratings) while simultaneously producing a focused spot in free space.
