In this paper, we propose a cross-range scaling technique for inverse synthetic aperture radar (ISAR) images, by estimating the rotation velocity (RV) of a target. In the proposed method, the major axes of two consecutive ISAR images are determined using the Radon transform and its projection onto the angle direction. We then establish an appropriate cost function using the major axes. Finally, the RV is estimated using the bisection algorithm. Experimental results show that the proposed method can perform robust cross-range scaling in a short computation time, even in a low signal to noise ratio environment.
