In this paper, a novel of shaft brushless doubly-fed generator with open winding (OW) strategy is proposed, which the control winding is fed with dual two-level three phase converters, and the coordinate control scheme with space vector pulse width modulation is designed. Compared to the traditional three-level inverter system, the dc link voltage and the voltage rating of power devices are all greatly reduced to half, but the reliability, redundancy and fault tolerance of the system is improved, the detailed performance simulation analysis is achieved based on MATLAB/SIMULINK, then the validity and effectiveness of the proposed strategy is confirmed. To date this kind of analysis of the open winding strategy of shaft brushless doubly-fed generator has not appeared in the literature.
