This paper investigates different methodologies for inspecting internal flaws inside the rail. The advantages and disadvantages are analyzed and compared. Then, the coil-based electromagnetic-induced thermoacoustic technique is proposed, and the experiment is implemented. By comparing the data collected from different rails with and without holes, the flaw inside the rail can be detected.
