Summary form only given. A biconical tapered fused (BTF) fiber technique has been used to fabricate a variety of low-loss passive optical fiber devices, such as wideband couplers, and wavelength-division multiplexers (WDM). We demonstrated a temperature-compensation technique to greatly reduce the temperature-induced wavelength drift of biconical tapered fused DWDM by a factor of 5.
