Summary form only given. This paper demonstrates 160-Gbit/s wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM) transmission using a four-channel multiplexed 40-Gbit/s optical duobinary signal. Four-channel WDM transmission without individual-channel dispersion compensation is possible because of the high dispersion tolerance of the optical duobinary signal. To our knowledge, this is the first demonstration of 40-Gbit/s optical duobinary transmission.
