This paper deals with problems caused by a traffic queue to traffic omitting the queue's critical points. Such traffic should be sheltered from negative influence of the traffic queue by a proper traffic management. The management should consider both passive markings and a strong utilisation of ITS. Calculations presented in this paper are based on case studies from the city of Poznań, Poland. Analysed are situations when the traffic omitting the queue's critical point crosses the queue, when the traffic interweaves with the queue, and when traffic joining the queue may block an unqueued priority lane.
