The general aviation industry is about to be transformed by the electrical propulsion technology developed all over the world. This paper addresses the challenges created by the transition to electrical propulsion, in four parts: Firstly, it introduces an electrically propelled aircraft to be used as a frame of reference. Then, it evaluates some financial aspects, mainly acquisition costs and funding the new project. Technical analysis deals with an estimative for the battery pack weight, and a forecast for its availability. The last part covers the operational challenges raised by electricity costs and turnaround time.
