The Highways Agency is developing a journey time database (JTDB) for the motorway and all-purpose trunk road network in England that it is responsible for managing. The database will contain information on the journey time for each 15-minute interval throughout the year for road links between junctions. The database will be used for a number of purposes, including: targeting resources; performance indicators; journey planning information. Mott MacDonald and TRL have been appointed to design and populate the database. An extract from the database will be supplied to Transport Direct to incorporate into their journey planning service, enabling the public to compare journeys by road, rail and other public transport throughout Great Britain.
