Kent link suburban railway lines are being transformed under a £8,000,000 project. The focus of this project is the introduction of the Networker Suburban trains. The original order for 100 units was split between GEC-Alsthom Metro Cammel at Birmingham and ABB Transportation at York, in 1888. Follow on builds with both main contractors mean that the ultimate fleet size will be 147 4-car units and 43 2-car units.
