British Aerospace's Chadderton factory was established in 1937 to manufacture large military aircraft and it continued to specialise in these until the declining market for them forced a change towards civil aircraft manufacture. The paper discusses the application of manufacturing simulation at BAe Chadderton. It considers the selection and cost-justification of new plant and equipment. (4 pages)
