Modern road vehicles have a substantial electrical loading, due to increased demand for power windows, power steering, etc. and the fuel economy improvements available from an integrated electric drivetrain. The machine type and topology for an integrated starter generator are discussed, along with system voltage ranging from 42 V to 350 V, performance and efficiency. (3 pages)
