All operators are familiar with planning and building traffic routes within the development of their networks. For the interconnection of two operators systems, traffic routing sets out the logical connection of the networks which in turn drives the provision of the interconnect infrastructure. For an initial interconnection of two systems, the development of traffic routing plans is an early task which can test the cooperation and mutual trust of the parties. This paper provide a an overview of the relationship between traffic routes, accessing operator networks and the provision of interconnect infrastructure. Some routing options and the structure of traffic routes are also mentioned. (10 pages)
