Paint systems in conjunction with cathodic protection are discussed. The claims made for these paints are given, and from, series of trials a number of problems is described, showing the difficulties to be encountered in this field. The factors which influence adhesion, electrical isolation, corrosion prevention can be met with systems based on vinyl copolymers, epoxy-coaltar, zinc rich paints and chlorinated rubber if properly formulated. Several examples are given to illustrate this.
