Two fishing boat models of about 85 feet in length have been tested at different drafts to compare the resistance qualities. One model is a traditional Swedish wooden trawler, the other one is of a form optimized according to the FAO/NPL regression analysis.
The results show that the Swedish trawler is inferior from a resistance point of view. The optimized form gives very good results and also a good correlation between model experiments and theoretical calculations.
