Die Zerspanung erfolgt auf definierten Kristallebenen in definierte Richtungen. Die starke Anisotropie von Scherwinkel, Form der Spanentstehungszone, Verformungsgrad und Spanstauchung läßt sich jedoch noch nicht quantitativ erklären.

    The film shows the changes in the chip-formation zone of a copper single crystal which is machined on different angles to the crystal axes. It is shown that the machining behaviour is very anisotropic. Shear angle, shape of the chip-formation zone, chip length ratio and chip deformation does not only depend from material and machining geometry, but also from the orientation, i. e. from the angle between the slip plane of the crystal and cutting plane.
