The experimental measurements of auroral particles precipitating into the atmosphere and of 3914 A and vacuum uv radiations from the interactions were made through the use of an instrument package on a polar orbiting satellite. Simultaneously observations of the optical luminosity and phase (dispersive Doppler) measurements on radio signals from the satellite borne beacon were made from an instrumented B-17 aircraft and from ground stations of the University of Alaska and other participants. Riometer and radar backscatter measurements were also made at the same time. (Author)
