The United States Army Aviation Systems Test Activity conducted an engineering evaluation of the CH-47C helicopter incorporating the icing spray system designed and built by a contractor. The evaluation was conducted during the period 13 April through 5 July 1973 at Edwards Air Force Base, California. The evaluation consisted of handling qualities and water droplet size and distribution calibrations, and involved 38 test flights totaling 27.5 productive flight hours. The CH-47C icing spray system handling qualities were evaluated in the long boom configuration and an attempt was made at evaluation in the short boom configuration. (Modified author abstract)
