Visibility distances to retroreflexes have been registered at full-scale simulations of opposing situations between two motor vehicles at night. The independent variables were the CIL value of the retroreflex, its area, and the light intensity from an opposing vehicle. The relative importance of these independent variables to the visibility distance has been determined. For retroreflexes with areas exceeding 100 sq cm compensation factors have been calculated.
