The study showed that during calendar 1968 there were 38 midair collisions involving 76 aircraft, a 46-percent increase in the number of midair collisions over the 1967 figure. In every 1968 midair collision accident, a general aviation aircraft was involved. In three cases, an air carrier was involved with a general aviation aircraft. In one case, a military aircraft was involved with a general aviation aircraft. In the remaining 34 instances, the collisions were between two general aviation aircraft. (Author)
