A system using sun slits and albedo horizon sensors to measure the attitude of a spinning satellite is described, with particular reference to the Prospero satellite. Details are given of the design and construction of each type of sensor and some suggestions made for future development, particularly to achieve higher accuracy. The method adopted for ground checkout of the system is described and some alternative possibilities discussed. (Author)
